The Album by Clela Errington, Walkin’ Each Other Home: A Spiritual, Unforgettable Celebration of Toronto’s Folk Scene”

An interesting fact: albums that appear at the right time – when there’s rain outside the window and the day becomes a solid gray spot, and conversations in cafes quiet down by themselves and you want to close the door and forget about what’s outside. “Walkin’ Each Other Home” by Clela Errington is one of those. The fifth studio album by the singer from Toronto came out on October 22, and if you missed the release, let’s correct this oversight…

John Apice, Americana Highways

“Delicacy certainly embraces the deep-toned voice of Toronto’s Clela Errington. She takes the traditional “I Know You Rider” often performed by The Grateful Dead & turns it into a low flame, bluesy, sexy Julie London-type lounge classic. Quite impressive. Ms. Errington knows how to hold the right note & when. How to use intonation to color lyrics with moans for accentuation. Pure professionalism, with intimacy, instead of being stiff with singing lesson exactness. Clela applies looseness, with a cool jubilance & not at the compromise of bravura. She adds a spirited performance & keeps the traditional wisp intact. Smooth like a gem….”

Paul Corby – Radio Regent, Toronto

“Walking Each Other Home is a sonically gorgeous sample of the mature work of one of the most beautiful voices you will ever hear.

Clela portrays the lyrics with intimate clarity, and her wisdom and passion peek around every corner. The musicianship and harmonies remain natural and committed throughout and the production values are superb. A new classic of Canadiana.”

Eric Thom, Toronto Blues Society

“When it comes to singers, there’s nothing on earth quite as beautiful as a woman’s voice. Far more emotive than even the best of male voices and capable of reaching notes with the capacity to pierce you through your heart in an instant, Clela Errington is among those to be considered something very special. Her 5th release, this low-key folkie is so much more than she pretends to be – with the vocal wallop of a veteran artist and, seemingly, as many musical interests and potential directions as befits her many talents. This songbird, (as visualized on the cover of her last release, 2014’s More Love and Happiness) is all ours and deserves our complete attention. One listen to Walking Each Other Home is all it’ll take to take you prisoner...”

Richard Flohil,  Toronto

“I get a lot of free records for one reason or other (I’m apparently an “influencer” — hah!).

And one of the very best records I’ve received in months is by Clela Errington; a CD titled “Walkin’ Each Other Home.” — I’ll call it folk/pop for grownups, and it’s worth having on your record shelves (or playlists) just for a masterful version — with lyrics I’d not heard before — of that classic song “Careless Love.” The rest is almost as brilliant. Two things: check her out at https://clelaerrington.com/
Fantastic album!”

Douglas McLean, Great Dark Wonder

“”Comprised mainly of newly arranged blues and country material and two originals, “Walkin’ Each Other Home” stands out for its authentic, resonant connection, that singer/guitarist Errington makes with the material. She embodies the essence of blues soul singing with song choices, some of which date back to the earliest of recorded music…
